HEALTH PROCEDURES

The nurse cannot give over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, cough syrup, etc. without a doctor's note listing the dosage and frequency for your child. If your child is taking a prescription medication that cannot be given on an alternative schedule, it must be packaged in a prescription bottle with a current prescription label on it. A permission note from the parent to administer the medication must be on file in the nurse's office before any medications will be given.

Additionally, no medications are to be sent to school with your child on the bus. An adult must bring all medications to the school. This is to prevent another child from taking a medication that could be harmful to them.

Your cooperation and compliance in these matters are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the nurse at our school.

IMMUNIZATIONS:

Attention Parents: Beginning with the 2005-06 school year the Varivax, or Chickenpox vaccine, is required immunization for incoming kindergartners before your child will be allowed to be enrolled in school.

Proper documentation showing that immunizations are current and up to date must be provided to the school before a child may be enrolled in school. This includes students transferring into the district. We can not wait for the transfer of records from another school.
This is in accordance with a state wide Missouri law statute 167.181, RSMO.

The Ray County Health Department has the ability to obtain via computer, immunizations administered at any county health department throughout the state of Missouri. This is a resource you might want to look into if you don't have a copy of your child's vaccination record. You can also have doctor's offices fax immunization records to the school at (816) 776-2110.

You can always reach nurse Ashley Miller at Dear Elementary during school hours. Please feel free to call and discuss any health questions or concerns you may have with your child.
